Mission Statement

Why “SquishmallO-Week”?

The support and comfort a Squishmallow provides is unparalleled. SquishmallO-Week is dedicated to encapsulating such feelings within Baker College and Rice University as a whole. Like your favorite Squishmallow, we strive to make your time here at Rice cozier: ready to welcome you with open arms, a soft hug, and a smile on our faces. First and foremost as part of the Baker family; we aim to create tight-knit bonds within Baker – both for our current and new students! Similar to the joy a Squishmallow brings, we hope to provide comfort: making Baker an open-minded and safe space to express your true self. Like the array of Squishmallows you can choose from, we hope our theme encapsulates diversity: celebrating our differences makes our Baker community an incredibly special place. And finally, like the tags that describe each Squishmallow's name, personality, and hobbies, we want new students to explore their passions, embrace our unique identities, and take inspiration from our differences. We know you will become a treasured member of our collection, “tagged” with your own diverse backgrounds and personal identities. Our collection is always growing, and you’re the perfect addition!

You may not snuggle up to us at the very beginning, but over time, we hope Baker becomes a place you call home.
