Mission Statement

Why “Dynamic DuO-Week”?

Batman and Robin, Shrek and Donkey, Spongebob and Patrick… These duos demonstrate the necessity for diversity, creativity, and strong connections. Dynamic DuO-Week is devoted to cementing these values both in Baker College and across Rice Campus. Just as Timon and Pumba welcomed Simba to the jungle, we are prepared to welcome you into the Rice family with open arms. Throughout the week, you will bond with everyone in the Baker Community - including current undergraduates, our core team, and all the other new students! We hope that you find that Baker is ready to support you in any circumstance, just like Sam supported Frodo on the journey to Mount Doom. Even in the face of seemingly insurmountable challenges, everyone at Baker is here to help! 

To successfully support you, we strive to make Baker an open-minded and safe space for you to express your true self. Just like how no duo would be complete without diverse perspectives, Baker College would not be the same without your authentic self. Finally, just like how Han Solo and Chewbacca explored the galaxy together, we want to help you explore your passions in all that you do at Rice University. There are limitless opportunities and possibilities, and Baker College is here to help you explore all of these! Throughout the week and beyond, we can’t wait to honor the iconic duos of our time: Phineas and Ferb, Tom and Jerry, and most importantly, YOU and BAKER!!!
